The Revelation of Jesus Christ

This is the only book of the Bible which has associated with it a special blessing for those who read and obey. In fact, there is a three-fold blessing in 1:3.

First, blessed is he (singular) that reads. When this book was written, not everyone had a copy of the Scriptures. So it was common for one person to stand before the congregation and read. This verse promises a special blessing for that person. Second, blessed are they (plural) who hear. Those that listen to that reading also receive a special blessing. That means you who listen to this series. And finally, blessed are they (plural) who keeps or takes to heart what is written in it. For everyone who believes this message and who acts upon what they have heard, there is a blessing.
